I began cooking at an early age at home with my parents. There I learned to appreciate exotic, sometimes strange foods, in addition to basic, homestyle meals. My father was the adventurous cook sometimes creating strange combinations, but everything tasted great, and my favorite meals from my mother were fried chicken and "mom's" spaghetti. I respect my parents for making me try some really exotic foods. To this day I think there is not a food I don't like! My father catered for parties and was always cooking or making homemade salami, pepperoni and kielbasa in his garage "meatshop". He always had an amazing garden and that's where I think I get my appreciation of local, seasonal food (we have to wait THAT long for carrots? What are we going to do with ALL these tomatoes?) and the taste of a vegetable that has been nurtured, allowed to mature naturally, then picked at the peak of ripeness.
After working many years in an office environment, I was married and soon after that a baby came along. It was after making the decision to stay home to care for my daughter that I began intense research and practice in cooking. I had found a new passion! Why hadn't I discovered this before!? I checked out every cookbook and cooking method book I could from the library. "Professional Chef" from the Culinary Institute of America is my daily reading! After hearing "You should open a restaurant" over and over, I researched and trained for five years and finally my dream has come true. Cooking is extremely enjoyable for me. I enjoy creating meals that taste great and are also healthy. I try to make everything from scratch and eliminate almost all processed foods from my family's diet. I am constantly researching and writing new recipes and healthy ways of eating that will make sure we have the energy and health to enjoy our lives to the fullest for as long as possible.
I want to share my love of food with people who enjoy the benefits of nourishing home cooked meals, but have other things to do besides plan meals, shop and cook. I LOVE MY CUSTOMERS! I want to make their lives easier and more enjoyable and I am honored to say that many of my customers become dear friends.
